Tips for Avoiding Motorcycle Accidents

Posted on November 20, 2015

When sharing a road between motorcycles and automobiles, there is always the possibility that an accident may occur. Unfortunately, if you happen to be on the motorcycle involved in the accident, you will undoubtedly be the sufferer of damage and horrible injuries.

If you own a motorcycle, there are ways to help keep yourself safe. Here are some tips that can help you to protect yourself from a motorcycle accident:

  • Use caution when crossing an intersection – vehicles often do not see motorcycles as easily and may turn left in front of you
  • Be careful when going around blind corners – if you cut a corner too widely, you may come across oncoming traffic or if you’re going too fast and hit a patch of gravel, you can spin out
  • Don’t ride in blind spots – use caution when passing vehicles as they may not notice a motorcycle in their blind spot
  • Avoid riding down the middle of the lane – while it may even be legal in some states, riding down the middle of a lane is extremely dangerous
